Privacy Policy

Beegin ("we", "us") is an app that helps you practice spoken English. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

01Information We Collect

• Account information: when you use Sign in with Apple, we receive your email address (or the relay address Apple provides if you choose to hide it); when you sign in with WeChat, we receive the user identifier WeChat provides (OpenID / UnionID) and your WeChat nickname. We use this to create and identify your account.
• Voice content: during lessons, audio captured by your microphone is processed for speech recognition, pronunciation feedback, and real-time conversation with the AI companion (Beeni). This is the core function of Beegin.
• Learning data: your progress, lesson completion, and practice records, used to show your progress, generate reports, and resume learning.
• Device identifiers: identifiers used to distinguish accounts and keep the service running.

02How We Use It

We use the information only to provide and improve the lessons and AI conversation features, generate your reports and progress data, and secure your account. We do not use your information for advertising or tracking, we do not integrate third-party advertising SDKs, and we do not sell your personal information.

03Sharing

We share data only with service providers (such as speech recognition, AI models, and cloud services) strictly as needed to provide the service, and only under confidentiality obligations. We do not otherwise share it, except as required by law. Data sent to AI services is described in Section 04.

04AI Services & Data Sharing

Beegin's lessons are powered by AI. During lessons and when generating your learning report, we send the data necessary for these features to the third-party AI services listed below. Before your first lesson, the app explains this separately and asks for your permission; if you do not agree, nothing is sent.

• OpenAI (United States): real-time lesson conversation. Data sent: your voice, the live transcript of what you say, and the name and learning progress the lesson needs.
• Alibaba Cloud Model Studio · Qwen and other models (Singapore): checking your answers, organizing your learning records, generating your report and progress page, and understanding the lesson time you say. Data sent: what you say in class (as text) and your learning records.
• Microsoft Azure Speech (Hong Kong, China): pronunciation assessment. Data sent: a short recording of you reading a sentence aloud.
• ElevenLabs (United States): reading your post-lesson report aloud, and recognizing the next lesson time you say. Data sent: the report text (which may include your name and sentences you said in class) and the short recording of you saying the time.
• DeepSeek (mainland China): "Practice with Beeni": understanding the real-life task you want to practice and building a short custom lesson for it on the spot. Data sent: the task you describe on the call (e.g. the occasion, who you will face, what you need to get done) and what you say on the call (as text).

Cross-border transfer: except for DeepSeek, whose servers are in mainland China, the servers of these services are located outside mainland China, so the related data is transferred abroad. We send only the data needed for each feature, and it is encrypted in transit.

Use & retention: these providers process the data only to deliver the features above, and handle and retain it under their service terms with us; we do not ask them to keep it longer than needed to provide the service.

Withdrawing permission: you can withdraw at any time in the app under Me → Account & Privacy → AI Data Permission. After you withdraw, the app will not start any new lesson conversation or recording for you until you agree again (processing completed before withdrawal is not affected), and it will ask again before your next lesson.

05Storage & Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Voice data is processed to deliver real-time tutoring and feedback.

06Your Rights & Choices

• Delete recordings: your recordings are deleted together with your account; you can also email us at any time to ask for deletion.
• Delete your account and all data: in the app under Me → Account & Privacy → Delete Account (irreversible).
• AI data permission: view or withdraw your permission for Section 04 in the app under Me → Account & Privacy → AI Data Permission.
• Microphone: manage anytime in iOS Settings → Beegin; disabling it turns off speaking practice.

07Children

Beegin is intended for adult learners and is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

08Updates

We may update this policy from time to time and will post the new effective date on this page.
